In January 2007, while standing in the check out line at a book store, I noticed an article on the cover of The New Yorker entitled, “The Worst High School in America.”
My immediate thought, “I wonder if it’s Manual?”, which was the name of my high school.
Indeed it was.

brookfield east HS sucked: compressed space with fluorescent lighting on all day.
That high school experience made me hyper appreciate outdoor natural environments, like a soccer filed next to a marsh or a trail leading to nowhere in particular.
