Here is a short video directed by Ian MacKenzie http://ianmack.com looking at the significance of Burning Man and the evolution of consciousness. You can also catch glimpses of the unyielding and prolific creativity for which the festival is famous.
The Burning Man festival in Black Rock City, Nevada began in the 1980s on Baker Beach on the shoreline of the Golden Gate when Larry Harvey burned an effigy of a man in the company of a few close friends. Since then, it has mushroomed into a week-long festival in one of the flattest and most inhospitable places on earth: an ancient lake bed raked by wind, extreme temperatures, highly alkaline soils, and amazingly disorienting dust storms.
The largest privately funded art show west of the Mississippi, radical self-expression, and a gifting economy make Burning Man one of the most interesting cultural and creative experiments going on earth today, a place that changes you forever. I met my wife there and a little over a year later our daughter, Sierra Lucia, was born.
I am grateful to all the artists, organizers, and volunteers that make the festival possible. It is truly a community-oriented event and one of the most inspiring creative environments I’ve been in. Check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGj1lR25gi4&feature=youtu.be
