One of my favorite radio hosts, Michael Krasny, recently interviewed author of Imagine: How Creativity Works, Jonah Lehrer.
It is important to note that it was later discovered that Jonah Lehrer fabricated some of the quotes he used in his book. The book was removed from the shelves and Lehrer fired from his job as a staff writer for The New Yorker.
With all this in mind, I still feel this is an important overview of creativity, insight, and imagination, exploring these themes across a wide spectrum, including: MRI machines and brain imaging; beer drinking and creative problem solving; alertness, sleepiness, deep sleep, and day dreaming; the influence of positive thinking on creativity; and stories from game changers as diverse as Steve Jobs, Bob Dylan, and Yo-Yo Ma.
