In this clip, taken in a Chinese Dim Sum restaurant in San Leandro, California, the creative interior design sensibilities of yesterday clash with the trends of today. Overstated air circulation vents with brass chandelier “landing gear” float overhead like alien space craft and seem ready posed to drop the tractor beam at any moment from the extra heavy popcorn texture heavens onto the unsuspecting patron just out of view.
Some things are so ridiculously ugly they become painfully beautiful to me; a wonderful example of how creations in the manifest realm change with time.
