Next week, my wife, daughter, and I will be heading down to enjoy and participate in the Lightning in a Bottle Festival, a remarkable spin off of the great mother of all festivals, Burning Man. There, I will be leading a workshop called, “Five Essentials of Designing and Building Sacred Space,” a workshop that I’ve created to bring light to some of the most ever-present yet overlooked aspects of creating a felt sense of magic and reverence in the world. Here is a synopsis of the workshop:
Are you longing to make a difference in the world but don’t know where to begin? Are you intrigued by the idea of a more conscious, enriching, and sustainable built environment but are unsure of how all the pieces fit together? For anyone wanting to deepen their relationship with both the natural world and the built landscape, this event is a must. Using the time-tested organizing principles of Vajrayana (Tantric) Buddhism, and the never-ending connectedness of our own bodies, minds, and spirits with the world around us, this talk will create a sacred framework for addressing present challenges, challenges such as personal fulfillment, meaningful living, sustainability, green building, and eco-friendly design. The goal of the talk will be to take the stagnant energy of our challenges and confusion and convert them into wisdom and compassion.”
And for those of you wanting to listen to some really good music and watch art be created on the spot go to Lightning in a Bottle over Memorial Day weekend. I’m looking forward to meeting you there!
