This week I was one of the facilitators at the Creativity Symposium at The Thatcher School in Ojai, California.
The Thatcher School is famous for pairing each incoming freshman with a horse, a horse the freshman learns to ride and take care of for the entire academic year.
The pairing not only teaches the student valuable lessons about riding and responsibility, but exposes the student to a whole different type of awareness, a sort of horse sense.
The relationship between humans and horses has gone back thousands of years. And, as a facilitator, it got me to thinking about what these amazing animals have to teach us about creativity.

It was fascinating to observe how anxious I became as I waited to see and experience the horses–that were never shown
Could not help but reflect on how many women are “high context” perceivers, thinkers and speakers but then are seen by the “low context, high focused ” people as being “scattered and all over the place”. Better we learn from horses than women! And I do love horses….,

Thank you for your comment Bonita. Apologies for not showing the lovely horses themselves. I agree, with what you say with “many women are ‘high context” perceivers’. In my experience, the aha moment always feels “feminine” to me, whereas narrowing of awareness feel more masculine. Both are needed, though at present, the focused awareness, the “masculine” awareness is overused and create busy, yet unfulfilled lives. Thank you again!
